The Conservation Institution of Muay Thai Chaiya (CIMC) has standardized the proficiency into 10 levels There are 3 Muay Thai Chaiya courses, which are 1. Basic Pahuyuth Course : for trainee level 1 - 3 2. Intermediate Pahuyuth Course : for trainee level 4 - 6
3. Advanced Pahuyuth Course : for trainee level 7 - 9
Each course consists of 3 levels.
Also available in another 3 extraordinary courses 1. Muay Chaiya for stage performance (to perform a show) 2. Muay Chaiya plus defending oneself with bear hands 3. Muay Chaiya short course
Aims and Objectives
To preserve Thai Martial Arts, the Arts of how to use all body organs (fists, feet, knees and elbows) as weapons including tactics of throwing- overlying- catching- breaking, swaying and gentling, etc. Learn how to increase one’s energy and concentration, how to get dexterous, pious and intelligent. Finally, when these have been integrated, it will bring peace into our community as well.
1.1.1 Basic Pahuyuth Course
- Objective - Emphasis on physique’s (body) strength which is the main source of energy in fighting. Reform body figure and proper it to the movements of Muay Chaiya.
- This level is divided into 4 algorithms, 48 periods, each period takes 1 hour 30 minutes (Instructors will have to check the appropriate movements of the learners in defending movements for the safety of learners in the next level)
1st Algorithm - Walk (to pace); there are 2 movements as following:
1.1) Pace of Kone : Train how to increase legs’ energy, drop and stretch. Adjust the balance of body which is the main source of energy in acquiring the ancient’s boxing.
1.2) Pace of Muay (Boxing pace): Train how to move. Emphasis on transferring body’s weight, legs’ energy, balancing and adjusting the fighting distance. Fix all these to an appropriate movement of Muay Chaiya Wanarath.
Remark: A correct way of pacing will make learners fast, watertight and skillful in assailing, dodging in which will finally bring about effective boxing tactics.
2nd Algorithm – Physical Exercise; there are 8 movements as
following:
2.1) Fist form: To practice the energy of legs and learn how to
properly grip the fists.
2.2) Pan Kan :To practice the energy of legs and shoulders.
2.3) Tie fist/Drop and stretch: Learn the method of correct Chaiya
boxing movement for fighting.
2.4) Pacing: Train how to pace correctly according to the formula
of Muay Chaiya.
2.5) Tie fist/Lift knee: Practice physical balancing and defending
with the main movement or master posture which is
the source of all other movements.
2.6) Tie fist/Lift knee/Fling shin: Learn how to give a straight and fast
kick, a particular form of City Boxing, which will
develop to various types of kicking.
2.7) Tie fist/Overturn tactic: Learn how to properly transfer body’s
weight in order to increase the efficiency of self
guard and of a sudden counterattack.
2.8) Overturn tactic/ throw shin: Practice the kicking posture in the
form of Muay Chaiya which will consequently
develop into various styles of kicks.
All these 8 movements are to adjust body organs to the formula of Muay Chaiya and also prepare the power base of the learners for the next level of training as well.
3rd Algorithm –Body Weapons Application; there are 7 movements
as following:
3.1) Pierce: Learn how to hit with the front fist.
3.2) Burst: Learn how to hit with the rear fist.
3.3) Tamp: Learn how to punch upwards from around abdomen up to
the chin. (Upper cut)
3.4) Buffalo fling: Learn how to punch by utilizing the energy from
shoulders in a bending line.
3.5) Elbow whip: Learn how to assail and withstand by elbow
upwards.
3.6) Elbow kiss: Learn how to assail and withstand by elbow upwards
at an angle.
3.7) Elbow fling: Learn how to assail and withstand by elbow
downwards.
These 7 Body Weapons’ movements are to be applied in basic fighting. Besides, they are basic knowledge of Pong-Pad-Pid-Perd (Protect, drive off, cover and reveal) and useful for the next level of Weapons Application as well.
4th Algorithm – To form pairs-Beginner level; there are 2 lessons
as following:
4.1) Basic Pong-Pad-Pid-Perd: To practice the basic instinct in
defending
4.2) Pairing -Beginner level: Understandingly get to know the distance in fighting against different opponents. In pairing (beginning level), learners will attain a better stage of self-defense. Simultaneously and speedily assail and withstand.

Only when a learner accomplishes all requirements and passes evaluation of performance examined by our qualified Instructors then, he will be considered as one who completes the Basic level of Muay Chaiya Wanarath. Consequently, he will be provided with a Certificate of Merits certifying of his good health, piety and ability to apply his knowledge of self-defense in daily life.

1.2.1 Intermediate Pahuyuth Course
- Objective - Emphasis on self-defense and as a preserved Sport.
- This level is divided into 6 algorithms, 60 periods, each period takes 1 hour 30 minutes (Instructors will have to check the appropriate movements of the learners in defending and exercising for the safety of learners in the next level)
1st Algorithm - Dance with joy
- To apply the timings of Dancing with joy and trampling into physical exercising and weapons application movements.
- To understand the art of transferring weight and applying weapons in a rapider manner, more concise and watertight.
2nd Algorithm – Four directions of Body Weapons
(Wai-ya-wut Ja-tu-ra-tis); there are 8 movements
2.1) Cross walk
2.2) Cross step
2.3) Cross throwing shin
2.4) Deer looks back
2.5) Hok-han-pan-klab (tumble & turn)
2.6) Hern-sub-hua (fly & strike on the head)
2.7) Step and stab
2.8) Step and throw shin
These 4 directions of body weapons will be the main movements for learners in all other various tactics if they become skillful and profoundly understand these.
3rd Algorithm – Feet setting according to Thai’s Martial Arts.
There are 6 movements
3.1) Circle walk – To attack in a curve line
3.2) Cross step – To attack in a zigzagging line
3.3) Cross step & turn round – Invite the opponent to invade so that
one can give an immediate counterattack.
3.4) Cross step & change trick – Invite the opponent to invade so that
one can give a non-instinct counterattack.
3.5) Cut tricks – To put the opponent out of step.
3.6) Step & change movement (tactic) – Walk in and alternate
(change) front leg to confuse the opponent.
To set Feet in accordance with the Thai Martial Arts will initiate an effective boxing tactics beyond the opponent’s expectation.
4th Algorithm – Practice Lom-luk-kluk-klan (struggle and fall)
This practice (struggle and fall) is to reduce the hazardous from the opponent’s attack and simultaneously reduce bodily injuries in practicing Thai boxing tactics, too. This will give the learner an alertness to fight in all situations even when making a slip and fall.
5th Algorithm – Get into pair and intervene
there are 4 movements 5.1) Get into pair and practice main tactic
To understand how to use all body organs through a supposable fighting accordingly to the old style boxing between an invader and a defender. There are 9 movements.
5.2) Pong-pad-pid-perd
This will help learner in developing self-defense to be more watertight and rapider including eyesight and basic instinct in defending oneself from all types of weapons. Moreover, ready to launch a counterattack in a sudden.
5.3) Trickery tactic - main tactic - miscellany tactic
These are the practicing modes of Muay Chaiya Wanarath which derived from Yang-sam-khum. If learner understands clearly, he will be able to split this movement into unending tactics by himself.
5.4) Skill training, getting ready for real fighting
This is to combine and apply all lessons into a realistic fight. Learner will have to perform with his own skill and sagacity in problem solving, to evaluate defending progress of the learner. There are 4 movements

6th Algorithm – Wai Kroo (Perform an Obeisance dance, part of the

To pay respect and to express one’s gratitude to teacher who bestows upon him knowledge of the Ancient Martial Arts, as well as to the audience. This ritual dance will identify one’s institute and his teacher. To set up concentration and warm up one’s body to be ready for the fight.

Complete Intermediate Pahuyuth Course
Only when a learner accomplishes all requirements and passes evaluation of performance examined by our qualified Instructors then, he will be considered as one who completes the Intermediate level of Muay Chaiya Wanarath. Consequently, he will be provided with a Certificate of Merits certifying of his good health, piety and ability to apply his knowledge of self-defense in daily life. 3.1) Advance Pahuyuth Course
- Objective – To be a perfect Muay Chaiya Instructor. To inherit the Arts and Science of Muay Chaiya Wanarath through his piety and code of conduct in accordance with the Grand Old Teachers in the past.
- This level is divided into 4 algorithms with no limitation of learning period. But qualified only from the minimum age of 20 only.
- Others qualification of learner in this level are as following
3.1.1) He must be a righteous man with code of conduct and be
able to show mercy upon all the creations.
3.1.2) He must express his loyalty and be eager for knowledge at
all time.
3.1.3) He must be gentle but not weak, strong and courage.
(Bravery)
3.1.4) He must be generous and indicating peace.
3.1.5) He must be regarded as an ultimate Thai Boxer whose intention is on the basis of absolute Muay Chaiya Wanarath preservation.
Note: Learner will meet all above qualifications only after a period of learning. His instructor will be the one who certifies his ability and position of being a new teacher.

Complete Advance Pahuyuth Course
Only when a learner accomplishes all requirements and passes evaluation of performance examined by our qualified Instructors then, he will be considered as one who completes the Advance level of Muay Chaiya Wanarath. Consequently, he will be provided with a Certificate of Merits certifying of his good health, piety and ability to apply his knowledge of self-defense in daily life. And he will have his right to instruct this knowledge to others or so-called one of the perfect inheritor of Muay Chaiya Wanarath.

Extraordinary courses
1) Muay Chaiya for stage performance (to perform a show) This stage performance’s aim is for preservation and is to be performed for entertainment emphasizing on the beauty and the complete form of Thai Martial Arts. Qualifications of Learner are as following:
One must posses
1.1 A completion of Intermediate course at least 3 months
1.2 Knowledge of at least 30 movements (tactics)
1.3 Knowledge of all 9 Muay Chaiya main movements
1.4 Knowledge of the movement “Lom-luk-kluk-klan”
1.5 Knowledge of Wai Kru (Obeisance dance, part of the pre-fight ritual.)
2) Muay Chaiya plus defending oneself with bear hands
3) This course is to save learner from the opponent’s harmful plot with the help of Muay Chaiya. Qualifications of Learner are as following:
One must posses
1.1 A completion of Intermediate course at least 3 months
1.2 Knowledge of particular Muay Chaiya movements
1.3 Knowledge of basic arms application such as sword, club and pocketknife etc.
1.4 Knowing about weak and strong parts of body organs
1.5 Ability to utilize self consciousness, skill and sagacity including meditation (concentration) practice.
Remark: Soon after a learner completes the Intermediate level of Muay Chaiya Wanarath, he can further apply (register himself) for Extraordinary courses to add up his specific capabilities. Consequently, he will be provided with a Certificate of completion of Muay Chaiya Wanarath.
4) Muay Chaiya short course. 10 movements, each movement takes 1 hour 30 minutes.
This course is provided for learners who want to apply their basic knowledge of Muay Chaiya to self defense in their daily life or for Educational Activities. Moreover this is to well preserve the National Martial Arts, too.
